Biography
Tracy Alan Saxe is Chair of SDV Fenchurch and the founding member of SDV in 1996. A skilled commercial litigator focusing on insurance law and litigation with more than 40 years of trial experience, including over 60 trials to verdict, judgment, or award. Tracy began his career handling a diverse array of general litigation matters, including an acquittal of his client in a murder trial, representing a certified class of independent book publishers in a class action in bankruptcy court, and many insurance coverage trials involving the construction, real estate, energy, and other industries.
In the 1980s, Tracy began his journey in insurance coverage in asbestos coverage actions, Superfund coverage litigation, and other high-value claims. Beginning in the 1990s, Tracy focused his practice exclusively on advocating for the rights of policyholders and expanded his insurance coverage experience beyond product liability and environmental insurance coverage into financial lines, crime and cyber liability coverage, intellectual property, energy, construction, commercial property, professional liability, management liability, and EPLI coverage, with many cases involving tens of millions of dollars of business interruption. Tracy has worked on and been a lead lawyer on many high-profile insurance coverage cases across the country, including the Big Dig, the World Trade Center, and other cases involving recoveries of hundreds of millions of dollars.
Tracy works closely with sophisticated corporate clients and their brokers to develop customized strategies for resolving complex legal issues. An active lecturer on insurance coverage topics at seminars and conferences nationwide, Tracy is recognized as a pioneer and thought leader in insurance coverage and risk transfer. Tracy is the co-author of the Thomson Reuters treatise Coverage of Construction Disputes and has been an Adjunct law school Professor on Insurance Law.
Tracy, ranked in Band 1 by Chambers USA, received the IRMI Words of Wisdom Award and was recognized as Finance Monthly Insurance & Risk Management’s Advisor of the Year. He is most proud of being the first Turner Construction Company Lawyer of the Year.
Experience
Tracy also serves as an arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association, guided by a steadfast commitment to fairness, justice, and the efficient resolution of legal disputes.
A resident of Fairfield, Connecticut, he is the Secretary/Treasurer of Jiwanko Saathiharu: Jeremy Saxe Foundation of Education and Development, Inc., a charitable foundation providing educational opportunities for children in Nepal.
