Biography
Nora represents clients in complex insurance litigation and dispute resolution matters, managing all phases of litigation from case strategy and discovery through motion practice, trial preparation, appeals, and proceedings in state and federal courts and alternative dispute resolution forums. She analyzes novel legal issues and provides practical, business-oriented guidance tailored to clients’ objectives.
Nora regularly collaborates with executive leadership teams and insurance brokers on risk management, insurance coverage, and contractual risk transfer issues. She also advises clients on insurance program coverage gaps and indemnity provisions to support effective downstream risk allocation. Her experience includes representing sovereign tribal nations and municipal governments in matters involving unique jurisdictional and regulatory considerations.
Nora first joined SDV Fenchurch as a Summer Associate, clerked during her third year, and returned to the firm after graduating from law school. During law school, she served as Vice President of the Cardozo Legal Society and the Child Advocacy and Family Law Society and interned for the Honorable Margaret A. Chan of the New York State Supreme Court.
Nora is passionate about public service and child advocacy. Through Lawyers for Children America and other pro bono initiatives, she has supported children and young adults involved in foster care and dependency matters, helping them secure legal protections and resources.
Experience
Nora has served on legal teams that represented a general contractor in a multi-party mediation involving more than 200 subcontractors, coordinating negotiations among nine insurance carriers to secure a $40 million settlement on a $70 million claim, and negotiated a $2 million settlement in a complex construction defect matter on behalf of a joint venture. She also helped secure a $1.5 million settlement of a punitive damages claim, eliminating approximately $10 million in potential trial exposure, and participated in a 20-day arbitration involving disputed policy premiums and negligent claims handling allegations that resulted in approximately $3 million in client savings and favorable claims-handling terms. Her experience further includes obtaining a $1.3 million recovery under a commercial property policy for losses caused by a neighboring fire and related firefighting activities, resolving a workers’ compensation audit dispute that saved the client more than $150,000, advising a Fortune 500 company on coverage issues arising from a copyright infringement claim under a professional liability policy, assessing liability and insurance exposure across multiple jurisdictions for a corporate vehicle fleet, and negotiating reimbursement of significant litigation fees and costs.
