Experience
Jonathan has successfully resolved insurance coverage disputes at all levels of state and federal courts, as well as through mediation and arbitration. His practice is concentrated on representing policyholders in complex insurance coverage matters involving commercial general liability, builder’s risk, and professional liability insurance.
One of Jonathan’s most impactful matters involved an eleven-story mixed-use residential and commercial building under construction in Florida that sustained water damage during construction. The central issue was whether leaks that occurred on different days over several months constituted a single “occurrence” under the general contractor’s builder’s risk policy. Following competing summary judgment motions, the federal court determined that the water damage constituted a single covered occurrence, resulting in a substantial recovery for the general contractor.
In addition to litigating complex insurance disputes, Jonathan regularly counsels clients on insurance coverage strategy, contractual risk transfer, policy placement, and renewals, helping businesses proactively manage risk throughout the life of a construction project.
