Biography

Janie Reilly Eddy is a Partner at SDV Fenchurch, where she advises corporate policyholders on insurance recovery, coverage counseling, risk transfer, and strategic claim and litigation guidance. She works with clients in industries including construction, transportation, manufacturing, and commercial real estate, helping them manage risk, present claims, resolve disputes, and position complex insurance matters for favorable outcomes.

Janie counsels clients on insurance program design, policy review, contract risk transfer, and claims strategy across multiple lines of coverage. She works closely with risk management professionals, in-house counsel, and insurance brokers to identify coverage gaps, strengthen contractual protections, and develop practical solutions to complex insurance issues, including renewal and litigation-related strategy.

Janie has helped policyholders secure multi-million-dollar recoveries under first-party property and business interruption policies and has guided clients through high-exposure coverage and risk transfer disputes. Her practice combines strategic coverage analysis with practical business advice, helping clients maximize insurance assets while managing legal and commercial risk.

Before joining the firm, Janie represented insurers and insureds in civil litigation, managing matters from inception through discovery, dispositive motions, depositions, mediations, trial preparation, and trial. That experience gives her practical insight into insurer litigation and claims-handling strategies, strengthening her ability to advise policyholders on litigation strategy and claim resolution.
Janie contributes to the insurance law community through speaking and writing on coverage, risk transfer, and emerging legal developments affecting policyholders. She presents to industry audiences and publishes practical insights for policyholders, brokers, risk managers, and other insurance professionals.

Experience

Janie advises policyholders nationwide on complex insurance coverage matters involving commercial property, business interruption, commercial general liability, builder’s risk, contractual indemnity, cyber liability, directors and officers liability, and other commercial insurance policies, with a focus on strategic claim and litigation guidance.

She advises clients on risk transfer strategies, insurance program review, and insurance-related contractual provisions. Her work includes counseling clients on claim presentation, insurer investigations, coverage disputes, and strategic decisions in matters that may proceed to litigation, mediation, arbitration, or other dispute-resolution forums.

Drawing on her prior litigation background, Janie helps clients manage risk, maximize insurance recoveries, and pursue favorable resolutions in negotiated, disputed, and litigated matters.
