Biography
Eve-Lynn Gisonni has dedicated her legal career to the representation of policyholders facing diverse and technical insurance coverage issues. She represents individuals and corporate policyholders in coverage actions involving all lines of insurance, including commercial general liability insurance, property insurance, builder’s risk insurance, cyber insurance, life insurance, and disability insurance, including ERISA-governed plans. She frequently represents corporate clients in generating admissible evidence in the reconstruction of decades-old general liability policies to cover resurrected bodily injury and property damage claims. Known for her commitment to holding insurers accountable for bad faith conduct, Eve-Lynn has built a national reputation as a tenacious advocate for policyholders.
A frequent presenter on insurance coverage, Eve-Lynn has spoken at numerous industry conferences and professional organizations. Her recent engagements have addressed topics including insurance coverage for long-tail sexual abuse claims, disability insurance, construction cyber risks, climate-related property insurance claims, and strategies for pursuing coverage for long-tail liabilities.

Resident of the firm’s Northeast offices, Eve-Lynn’s experience in forging paths to the best possible insurance recovery outcome epitomizes her client-centric philosophy. She is seasoned in all aspects of federal and state litigation and trial practice. Eve-Lynn has made inroads in the insurance law field by applying cutting-edge arguments to novel issues of insurance contract interpretation. She successfully argued the landmark case Benesowitz v. MetLife before the New York Court of Appeals, securing a favorable decision on the interpretation of pre-existing condition provisions in group disability policies. The decision prompted regulatory action requiring disability insurers to rewrite their insurance policies and reopen and pay affected claims.
Eve-Lynn is a Senior Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, an invitation-only attorney honorary society representing less than one-half of one percent of American attorneys. Members are selected based on courtroom effectiveness, ethical standards, and commitment to diversity.
Her representative matters include securing insurance coverage for a large school district facing high value claims under New York’s Child Victims Act, resolving Civil RICO litigation against Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company, obtaining summary judgment in a disability benefits dispute against First Unum and MetLife, defeating an insurer’s attempt to rescind a life insurance policy, and recovering available policy limits in a declaratory judgment action against an excess liability insurer.
