Dru Corfield

Dru is an Associate specialising in coverage disputes and is a member of our UK Financial and Professional Risks team.

Dru has a keen interest in Artificial Intelligence and was an inaugural member of the City of London Society’s AI Committee. He heads the Committee’s Insurance & Professional Negligence subcommittee and regularly participates in panel discussions.

Dru also hosts SDV Fenchurch’s Policyholder Podcast.

He also co-leads SDV Fenchurch’s Associate Series. The series is focused on building relations between junior fee earners at SDV Fenchurch’s and young people in the market through informal networking and giving talks at various broking firms.

Prior to SDV Fenchurch, Dru trained at insurance specialist boutique, which had a busy litigation practice in the heart of the London insurance market.

Dru advises policyholders on complex, high-value insurance coverage disputes, with experience across property damage, business interruption and political risk claims. He has acted for a national baking company in a £100 million insurance dispute arising from a major fire at a production facility, which proceeded on an expedited basis and settled shortly before trial.

His experience also includes successfully representing a dental practice in an £8 million coverage dispute, securing strike out and summary judgment after the Court found that insurers had waived their right to rely on alleged non-disclosure. Dru has further acted for a Ukrainian company pursuing a €150 million insurance claim following the loss of its wind farm as a result of the Russian invasion.
