Biography

Rachel S. Pearson is a Partner at SDV Fenchurch, where she focuses her practice on transactional risk transfer and policyholder-side insurance recovery and litigation. She advises clients on complex insurance coverage strategies across a broad range of policies, including builder’s risk, commercial general liability, commercial property, cyber liability, commercial crime, directors and officers, and employment practices liability.

Rachel works closely with clients to proactively identify and mitigate risk through strategic insurance planning and contract negotiation. She regularly assists with policy review, placement, and renewal, ensuring that clients’ insurance programs align with their operational and contractual exposures. Her ability to bridge transactional risk transfer with litigation strategy allows her to provide practical, forward-looking guidance aimed at minimizing disputes and strengthening coverage positions.

Prior to joining the firm, Rachel developed a strong litigation background representing clients in medical malpractice, product liability, and general negligence matters in both state and federal courts. She leverages this experience to efficiently navigate coverage disputes and advocate for favorable outcomes when litigation becomes necessary.

Rachel is an active contributor to the insurance law community. She has authored legal publications and presented on developments in insurance coverage and litigation. Her work has earned her recognition in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America and inclusion on the Connecticut Super Lawyers Rising Stars list.

Experience

Rachel represents policyholders in a wide range of insurance coverage matters, with a particular focus on aligning contractual risk transfer with insurance recovery strategies. She advises clients on structuring and negotiating insurance provisions in construction and commercial agreements, and on maximizing coverage under complex insurance programs.

Her experience includes counseling clients on builder’s risk and commercial general liability coverage issues, addressing emerging risks such as cyber and professional liability exposures, and resolving disputes involving property damage, business interruption, and third-party liability claims. Rachel also assists clients in navigating insurer denials and coverage challenges, providing strategic guidance from pre-claim planning through resolution.
