Biography
Michelle Grzybek (née Grieco) is a resident of the firm’s Connecticut office where she maintains an active litigation practice focused on representing commercial policyholders in coverage disputes against their insurance carriers, including complex multi-carrier disputes. Prior to starting her career as an insurance coverage attorney, Michelle worked on the SDV Fenchurch team as a Law Clerk and graduated from the firm’s Summer Associate program.
Michelle’s background in insurance began in 2019 when she worked for a major insurance carrier’s product management department, where her focus was policy pricing analytics. While in law school, she also interned in that insurer’s claims department. Michelle graduated with honors from Quinnipiac University School of Law with a concentration in Intellectual Property, where she also received the Superior Classroom Performance Award and recognition for her excellence in oral advocacy. She was also the Supervising Note Editor of Quinnipiac Health Law Journal.
In her free time, Michelle enjoys living an active lifestyle. She golfs in the summer, skis in the winter, and runs daily year-round. She has two young dogs that keep her on her toes. She loves traveling and immersing herself into different cultures, which is exemplified by her latest feat: learning Polish.
Experience
Michelle assists clients through all stages of litigation, including pre-suit coverage analysis, pleadings, discovery, motion practice, and deposition preparation. Her experience includes researching and briefing coverage issues, analyzing insurance policies and claim files, preparing discovery requests and responses, and supporting the prosecution of claims involving coverage denials, bad faith, and policy interpretation disputes. Michelle has worked on matters involving property, general liability, professional liability, directors and officers, and other commercial insurance policies. Michelle has used her experience to evaluate and advise clients on the terms of contractual and indemnification agreements and negotiate the settlements of complex multi-carrier property damage claims.
