Biography
Daniel is the firm’s UK Managing Partner. Daniel specialises in advising and acting for commercial policyholders in ultra-high-value and complex coverage disputes, including under Property Damage, BI, PI and Directors & Officers (‘D&O’) policies. Daniel acts for a number of leading national and multi-national organisations.
Prior to joining SDV Fenchurch, Daniel spent a decade as a solicitor and claims handler for leading insurers, and placing insurance policies in a broking role. He has experience of taking high-value disputes to trial, including cases decided in the Supreme Court. Daniel’s experience and insight from other sides of the insurance market is helpful in achieving positive outcomes for his policyholder clients.

Experience
Daniel advises policyholders on some of the most significant and complex insurance disputes in the market, with particular experience in high-value property damage, business interruption, professional indemnity and financial lines claims. He regularly acts in matters involving multi-jurisdictional issues and substantial losses across the construction, financial services, energy, leisure and sports sectors.
His recent experience includes acting for David Wood Baking Limited in its £150 million-plus claim against material damage and business interruption insurers following a major fire, Butlins Skyline Limited in its £60 million insurance claim arising from flood and storm damage, and a leading professional football club in relation to a substantial Covid-19 business interruption claim. He has also acted for an international energy company in a high-value property damage and business interruption dispute and for Clarendon Dental Spa LLP in pursuing insurance recoveries exceeding £8 million following a major fire.
Daniel also advises on complex liability and professional indemnity disputes. His experience includes acting for a major financial institution in a multi-jurisdictional financial crime insurance dispute, representing leading construction and engineering businesses in professional indemnity claims arising from major infrastructure projects, and advising major contractors on cladding and fire safety insurance disputes. He has further acted for a number of major UK and internal corporates in cross border high-value coverage disputes involving complex issues of policy interpretation, causation and insurer liability.
