Biography

Bethany Barrese is a trusted advisor, accomplished litigator, and nationally recognized advocate for policyholders. She helps her clients maximize insurance recovery, manage risk, and navigate complex coverage issues that can significantly impact business operations and financial performance.
Representing clients across industries including commercial real estate, construction, higher education, power and energy, hospitality, manufacturing, and professional services, Bethany advises on virtually every type of insurance coverage including commercial property, commercial general liability, builder’s risk, professional liability, cyber, pollution, errors and omissions, educator’s legal liability, and captive insurance programs.

Clients value Bethany’s ability to combine deep technical insurance knowledge with practical business solutions. She advises businesses on the design and enhancement of their insurance programs, evaluates risk mitigation strategies, and develops contract provisions that help reduce exposure before claims occur. When disputes arise, she guides clients through every stage of the claims process from claim presentation and insurer negotiations to litigation and appeal.

Experience

A seasoned trial and appellate advocate, Bethany has secured numerous multi-million-dollar insurance recoveries for policyholders and successfully litigated complex coverage disputes throughout the country. Her notable matters include the landmark appeal of Nash Street, LLC v. Main Street America Assurance Co., which established significant policyholder-friendly precedent under Connecticut law, as well as the resolution of sophisticated coverage issues arising from post-9/11 World Trade Center first responder injury claims.
Recognized for her practical insight and engaging presentation style, Bethany is a frequent speaker on insurance coverage, risk management, and emerging issues affecting policyholders. She has also served as an instructor for the University of Connecticut School of Law’s LLM Program in Insurance Law, where she taught Insurance Litigation.
In addition to her active client practice, Bethany serves on the firm’s Executive Committee, helping guide the firm’s strategic growth and leadership initiatives. A Connecticut native, she established the firm’s New Jersey office in 2017 and serves clients on a national basis.
